EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT
For emergency landings in the sea:
4-man life raft, life jackets, life jackets from
Eastern Aero Marine (Miami) water dessalinator, marine and
air VHF radio, solar panel (for radios), 1 ELT (Emergency
Locator Transmitter), 460 MHz satellite EPIRB (Emergency
Position Indicating Radio Beacon) from ACR (Fort
Lauderdale), the use of the portable GPS, fishing gear,
first aid kit, dehydrated emergency rations, sun hats,
suntan lotion, a couple of good books and an endless
supply of patience.
For emergency landings on land:
all of the above plus crash helmet (just a joke!), water
purifying tablets, warm
clothes, thermal blankets. For landings on tropical
forests, plenty of rope for getting down from the treetops
and an axe to chop a way out.
